An AQHA Legacy Breeder
Meet the
Reynolds Family
Three generations of breeders carry on with the AQHA Legacy Breeder program.
"Big Pete" started breeding horses in TX and Mexico in the 1920s while he was free ranging cattle in Mexico and West Texas. Breeding for speed, athleticism, durability and confirmation to fit the needs of ranching cowboys. His goals happened to be exactly what some breeders a few hundred miles north were looking for when the AQHA was formed. Pete's horses were soon entered into the registry and a "Legacy Breeder" was born. Pete moved his operation to Alabama in 1950 and soon created the Alabama QHA and helped grow the breeds recognition and values east of the Mississippi. After Pete's passing in 1994 his son "Little Pete" carried on the tradition. Today his grandson Jay Reynolds carries on breeding high quality AQHA foundation and performance horses.
